Dave Aftandilian I am so excited that Barrowhoard has released this beautiful album on CD! Listening makes me think of a young hero setting forth on his first adventure with a spring in his step and a smile on his lips. Great use of Middle Eastern percussive textures, too, which lends an aura of exotic lands and peoples the hero will meet on his travels. The martial elements are well done, too, amping up the excitement and anticipation.

Inspired by games like Stronghold, Fate, Heroes of Might and Magic V, and old Total War games, this album was made over a long period of time as a reflection on these inspiring titles, as well as an experimental journey of blending European and middle-eastern instruments within flowing melodies and rhythms. Building upon previous experiences and continuing with an open and creative mindset, the goal was to create a variety of tracks and moods which all fit into an adventurous, life-affirming canvas.

A dreamy, beguiling, nostalgic dungeon synth quest through the shires. But, it's so much more than that. The LP incorporates some unique key changes, field recordings and a lot of Mort Garson style synth work. It sometimes reminds me of old 70's PG horror soundtracks. The record is addictive melancholy inspiration. The ideal music for accompanying the dawning morning of an epic adventure. brantly
